CID West Bengal is committed to counter modern age crimes like Cyber-crime using innovative methods and techniques. We have a State-of-the-art Cyber-Forensics and Digital Evidence Examiners’ Laboratory (CFDEEL) to provide forensic opinion in Cyber Crime cases which inter-alia helps a lot in quick identification of crime / criminal in different Cyber Crime cases across the State. We also have an ultra-modern Cyber Forensics Training Laboratory (CFTL) to provide training on Cyber Crime/Cyber-Forensics domain to the police personnel of different districts of West Bengal State as part of capacity building in the cyber domain. Apart from that we have a Cyber Crime Police Station at the CID Head Quarter. A Cyber Security and Cyber Safety cell is also there to cope up with the new cyber threats/challenges in the cyber world, encountered day-to-day in CID and different units of West Bengal Police.

CID West Bengal is the State Nodal Agency for prevention of different crime domains which includes Human Trafficking & Crime Against Women & Children, Cyber Crime cases, Missing Persons etc. It has a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) to handle bomb calls across the State through its 16 bomb disposal units located in different districts of West Bengal. The oldest Finger Print Bureau of our Country functions under this premier organization. It has a Questioned Document Examination Bureau (QDEB) to examine forged/fabricated documents in different cases received from all the police stations of West Bengal including Kolkata Police jurisdictions, Civil Courts including Hon’ble High Court, Calcutta and the neighbouring States as well.

It's my pleasure to welcome you to the official website of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) West Bengal. It is an honour to serve as the Chief of CID WB which is one of the oldest police departments in India having established in the year 1906 after the partition of Bengal. We, at CID West Bengal are committed to our motto of Fight Crime and Win and we have an illustrious history. Time and again we have proved that CID West Bengal is one of the most competent and efficient police departments in India. CID West Bengal has many specialized units and investigating teams at its head quarters in Kolkata. CID West Bengal has also Cyber Police Station functioning from its head quarters. CID West Bengal is ably supported by 24 detective department field units stationed at every district head quarters/important cities throughout the State of West Bengal. CID West Bengal has the pride of having the oldest finger print bureau in the world. This finger print bureau at CID West Bengal has completed 125 years of glorious service to our nation in 2022. In this ever evolving era of technological advancement, crimes associated with cyber space and network using the technology by unanimous criminals become very challenging for any police force. At CID West Bengal we are fully equipped to face up this challenge with many specialized units under our fold. We operate the citizen centric service of toll free cyber crime help line number 1930 for the State of West Bengal. In the event of any cyber crime involving deduction of money from the accounts of victims, this helpline aims to provide immediate protection to block the movement of money/bank account through money trail and activate intervention of respective law enforcement agency. OUR Achievements

Yesterday (19.2.25) evening, acting on a tip-off, Narcotic Cell & SOG CID with technical support conducted a raid under Bauria Police Station, Howrah Rural District and seized 711.650 kg(7.1 Quintal) cannabis containing 31 plastic sacks & one Renault Duster car bearing registration number WB02AD1471 & one Toyota Glanza bearing registration no WB 12BF 4166 & 3 mobile phones. During the search operation, all the narcotic contraband was concealed in the underground chamber of the godown & some portion into the hidden iron chamber of those two seized cars of Sk Majed Ali(38) of Chakkashi, Ps Bauria, Howrah. Sk Majed Ali was arrested red-handed at the PO. As per preliminary information he procured Ganja from different part of Orrisa & stored it in his godown for selling the same to local agents in the Howrah & adjacent districts. The estimated value of the seized narcotic contraband in the grey market is approximately ₹one crore The search/seizure/labeling procedure was done under the coverage of videography under the supervision of Dysp D&T and addl charge SDPO Uluberia, Howrah Rural police district. The accd Sk Majed Ali was also arrested previously in c/w Uluberia Ps C/no 222/21 dt 30/6/21 u/s 20(b)(ii)C NDPS Act. He also wanted in c/w Karimpur Ps C/no 129/24 Dt 29/6/24 u/s 20(b)(ii)C NDPS Act. A suo moto complaint was lodged by Narcotic Cell which refers to Bauria PS case no. 25/25 dt 20/2/25 u/s20(b)(ii)C/25/29 of the NDPS Act and SOG has taken up the investigation of the case. The said accd Sk Majid Ali will be forwarded with remand prayer before Ld ADJ 3rd court Howrah.

On 10.12.2024 evening , acting on a tip-off, Narcotic Cell conducted a raid at Dhulagarh Toll plaza under Sankrail Police Station, HPC and intercepted one Skoda Slavia sedan car bearing registration number WB12BT8528 & one Tata Tiago bearing registration no Wb12BC3478. Upon search, 4 multi coloured plastic sacks containing cannabis greenish colour flowering top total weight 97.650 kg were seized. One Vinod Kr. Chauhan(46 yrs) of G T Road, Serampore, Hoogly P/A Bally, Durgapur, PS Nischinda, Howrah was arrested red handed at the PO. Another driver of Tata Tiago car bearing no WB12BC3478 managed to flee away from the spot. As per preliminary information, the consignment was procured from Bhadrak, Orrisa & scheduled to be delivered at Howrah/ Hooghly district. The estimated value of the seized narcotic contraband in the grey market is approximately ₹15 lakhs. The search/seizure/labelling procedure done under coverage of videography under supervision of ACP South I, HPC. Over a suo motu complaint lodged by SI Atanu Majumder which refers to Sankrail PS case no. 953/24 dt 11/12/24 u/s 20(b)(ii)C/25/29 of the NDPS Act a case has been started and is being investigated by Narcotics Cell, CID.

On the basis of credible information and following close persuasion, OC AHTU CID & officers & men along with DySP Spl CID held raid at B Garden PS jurisdiction outside of Shalimar Railway station, early morning today i.e. on 10.11.2024 for acting against an inter state child trafficking gang. Two (02)persons namely Manik Haldar (38) & Mukul Sarkar (32) have been arrested . A two(02) day's old female child has been recovered. The child has been shifted to Howrah state hospital. Officials from CWC and members of Bachpan Bachao Andolan (NGO) accompanied and assisted team of CID during the raid and rescue of the child. The team is now camping at B Garden PS and taking necessary follow up action.

Haldia PS Case no. 109/2017 dt. 26/10/17 u/s 363/366A/370/370A/372/373/376/109/ 120B IPC, Sec 4/6/17 POCSO, Sec 3/4/5/6 ITPA In this case, a minor girl aged about 16 yrs was trafficked from Haldia to Agra via Delhi on 25/10/2017 and was sold in a brothel. Custodial trial of the case commenced in the Court of Ld ADJ, POCSO, Haldia against 7 accd persons. Ld Court has convicted SIX accd persons. One accd has been acquitted. Special Public Prosecutor of the case: was- SHRI DEB RANJAN BANERJEE In connection with this case, Ld ADJ POCSO Court, Haldia has declared the following quantum of punishment on 8.11.2024 for the six accused persons:- (1) Shahjamal Molla- Life conviction(for remaining life) (2) Shalu Singh-- 20 yrs of rigorous imprisonment Rest below noted accused persons have been convicted for 12 yrs of rigorous imprisonment (3) Praveen kumar@ Rinku (4) Manisha (5) Mary (6) Shehnaz Begum@ Indu Ld Court has granted Rs 3 lakh compensation to the victim.

A team of CID cyber crime police station conducted a raid and arrested One accused Saurabh Shakya S/O Ram Ratan Shakya of, PS- Nighasan, Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh in c/w Laketown ps case 16/2023 u/s 420/406/120B IPC near Nepal border. He is one of the masterminds of credit card fraud by creating fake website of car rental they compromised credential of credit and debit card while users used it for booking car. A good no of complaints were registered against the particular fraud website www.mahalaxmicarrental.in.
