Cyber Forensics & Digital Evidence Examiners’ Laboratory has been set up at SDF Building 1st Floor, Sector-V, Salt Lake, Kolkata-700091 under the administrative control of the ADG CID, WB vide West Bengal Govt. Notification no. 1309/HHA-11012 (29)/11/2020-PM SEC - Dept. of Home & Hill Affairs Dated, Howrah, the 16th July, 2020. The laboratory was inaugurated by our Hon'ble Chief Minister, West Bengal on 8th September, 2020.
The Cyber Forensic & Digital Evidence Examiners’ Laboratory (commonly known as CF&DEEL), has been established through gazette notification 16th July,2020 under the control of Addl. Director General of Police, CID, West Bengal and start functioning since September 2020
The CFDEEL laboratory has been created primarily to cater the need for digital forensic examination within the state as its demand is increasing day by day.
The CFDEEL laboratory has been notified by the Central Government as ‘Examiner of Electronic Evidence’ under Section 79A of the Information Technology Act 2000 on 8th Aug, 2023 with the following scope:
i. Computer (Media) Forensics excluding Floppy Disk drive
ii. Mobile Device Forensics
As per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Office Order No 18/2020 dated 28th August 2020 issued by ADG, CID and the Quality Manual Issue 2 ( based on the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017), all requests for examination should be addressed to the Director ( In-Charge), Cyber-Forensic & Digital Evidence Examiners’ Laboratory, CID, West Bengal, Module No 114, Ground floor, SDF Building, Sector-V, Salt Lake City, Kolkata-700091, Ph No. 033-29520019 through filled-in forms as given below:
